Pediatric Dentistry

The Ideal Smile Clinic also provides comprehensive dental treatment to small patients. Our doctors are very well aware of how important a first visit to a dentist is in life. The experience a child gets from the first time they sit in the dental engine is the basis for how they react to dental care later. A good first impression can therefore be a guarantee of your child’s healthy and beautiful teeth.

Psychological adaptation of children at the Ideal Smile Clinic

  • Getting to know the doctor. It is definitely not recommended to start treating caries immediately. It is better to choose an ordinary routine check-up as the first visit, during which the doctor will assess the child’s readiness for the procedure itself.
  • Getting acquainted with the dentist’s office. Children need time to get acquainted with a new environment and to get used to it a bit.
  • Anaesthetics. We use anaesthetics on sensitive areas in two stages: first, a special agent is applied to the gum, which is then injected with the anaesthetic.
  • Analgosedation. Absolutely safe inhalation analgesia. A mixture of nitrogen and oxygen is administered to relax the child and relieve their stress. It is used in the treatment of children’s teeth at the request of parents.

Treatment of deciduous (baby) teeth

The most common problem with the deciduous teeth is, of course, dental caries. It is important to know that every source of inflammation in the oral cavity causes bacteria to spread throughout the body, cause ENT problems, and even affect the entire immune system. Untreated caries can cause complete breakdown of the teeth or develop into periodontitis or pulpitis. Thorough check-up of the condition of the deciduous teeth will allow it to be preserved until it is completely replaced with permanent teeth.

Treatment of permanent children’s teeth

Between the ages of 5 and 7, children develop their first permanent teeth. The tooth is formed for another 3 to 4 years. Enamel is particularly sensitive throughout this time. Due to the specifics of childhood, it can take as little as three weeks from the first appearance of a darker stain on the enamel of a child’s tooth to the development of deep caries. That is why the following is absolutely essential:

  • thorough teeth care;
  • routine check-ups;
  • early treatment

The importance of routine check-ups

  • Superficial caries can go unnoticed because they do not hurt.
  • Caries can occur in poorly visible and less accessible places.
  • The sooner the caries is detected, the less stress the child will experience during its treatment.
  • In addition, the doctor monitors the process of tooth replacement and, if necessary, recommends a visit to an orthodontist in good time as part of routine check-ups.
  • The dentist assesses the quality of home care, recommends the best practices and products if necessary, and helps parents choose the most suitable toothbrush.
