Implantation technology applied at the Ideal Smile Dental Clinic
- Implantation and prosthetics are performed in two stages, which is the most common method that has become standard practice. During the first stage, an implant is inserted into the socket prepared in advance. After complete healing of the implant area (up to 3 months on the lower jaw and 4 to 6 months on the upper jaw), healing abutments are placed in the respective places, having an aesthetic function – gum shaping around the implant. At the same time, temporary dentures are placed. Permanent crowns are placed 10 to 14 days after the temporary dentures are used.
- Immediate implantation – a procedure during which the implant is inserted into the socket immediately after the tooth is removed. The possibility of immediate implantation is conditioned by the presence of a sufficient amount of bone tissue and the absence of inflammation or gum infection.
- Immediate load implantation – crowns are placed on implants immediately after insertion or within a few days.
Each of these implantation methods has its own indication and limitations. Our experts will be happy to advise you on which method is most suitable for you.
Implantation in the complete absence of teeth (anodontia)
If most of the patient’s teeth are missing, 8 to 10 dental implants inserted in each jaw are considered the optimal solution. The main advantage of this procedure is the reliable fixation of removable and fixed dentures in the oral cavity, which rest on dental implants.
Implantation using a surgical template
Transgingival implants – this is an innovative method that doctors at the Ideal Smile Clinic often use. This implantation is maximally precise and delicate due to the fact that the gum tissue is not cut and therefore not sutured. In this method, an opening of several millimetres in the gum is sufficient to insert the implant. Before the actual insertion, a special surgical template is made (the appearance resembles a bite splint), which is used to help determined the place of insertion and the degree of inclination of the implant as precisely as possible.
Implantation without surgery is suitable even for patients with endocrine disorders (in the stage of remission), as well as for patients suffering from diabetes. A contraindication is a lack of bone tissue at the implant site.
