Dental Surgery

People usually go to a dental surgeon when they need to replace lost teeth, correct the occlusion of children and adults and, of course, for treatment of teeth and gums.

An expert in dental surgery will help you in the following cases:

  • procedure to save a damaged tooth;
  • removal of neoplasms in the oral cavity;
  • cyst removal or tooth extraction;
  • preparation for implant placement, bone repair, the procedure itself;
  • plastic surgery of the tongue frenulum or lip;
  • aesthetic preparation of the gum shape;
  • gum recession plastic surgery.

All procedures are performed with effective anaesthesia. You can choose to have the procedures performed using local anaesthesia or moderate sedation to relieve stress.

When is tooth extraction required?

Tooth extraction is the most common surgical procedure. Our dental surgeons will do everything to save every tooth. The decision to extract a tooth is preceded by a thorough diagnosis. If the tooth cannot be saved, it is necessary to remove it as gently as possible, with minimal damage to the bone tissue.

Indications of tooth extraction:

  • fractures and cracks in the tooth root;
  • the tooth cannot be restored due to the large extent of damage;
  • advanced stage of periodontitis;
  • incorrect position of third molars;
  • teeth removal as part of orthodontic treatment;
  • complications after root canal treatment.

Cyst removal

Cysts most often appear as a complication during periodontitis, pulpitis, dental injuries or as a result of improper treatment or complicated tooth extraction.

Initially, cysts do not manifest themselves in any way and it is possible to detect them only during a routine check-up based on an X-ray. Cysts in the upper jaw pose the biggest danger as they can grow through into the nasal cavity.

Extraction of third molars

Third molars or “wisdom teeth” must be extracted in most cases. Problems with these teeth most often arise due to their incorrect position. If a third molar is well seated in the jaw, having a normal position, then it is not recommended to have it pulled out.

When is it necessary to pull out a third molar?

  • Inflammations – they occur when the tooth only partially erupted through, with a beginning inflammation under the gums.
  • There is not enough space for the tooth.
  • Caries – the location of the tooth in the jaw prevents its proper brushing.
  • Bite disorders and change in the position of adjacent teeth – based on the recommendation of an orthodontist before braces are made.

Teeth preservation

Modern dental surgery makes it possible to save teeth that would certainly be pulled out just a few years ago. The most effective methods of teeth preservation include:
Surgical treatment of odontogenic cyst. The indication of the procedure is:

  • cyst affecting three healthy teeth;
  • large cyst on the upper dental arch (accompanied by damage to the palatine bone);
  • large cyst on the lower dental arch.

This procedure removes the anterior wall of the cyst, which is connected to the oral vestibule or to the oral cavity. The procedure is not so surgically demanding, but requires a long healing time.

Cystectomy – the cyst is removed completely during this procedure. Prior to the procedure itself, the root canals of the affected teeth must be treated and sealed.

Root end resection, technically called apicoectomy, is a procedure indicated when conventional endodontic treatment is no longer possible. Sources of infection and inflammation are eliminated along with the upper part of the tooth root. All tooth functions are preserved.

Hemiextraction (hemisection) or partial tooth extraction is a surgical procedure during which only one specific part of the tooth that causes pain/disease is removed. The remaining part is left for healing and subsequent prosthetic treatment with a denture.

Osteoplasty

“Bone plastic surgery” (bone repair) is a procedure that our clinic has been performing successfully for many years. The procedure is most often used in the preparation of teeth for dental implants. After tooth extraction or loss, the load on the bone decreases and the process of bone atrophy (reduction of bone volume and strength) begins. This process takes 2 to 3 months on the upper jaw and up to 12 months on the lower jaw.

In patients with severe bone atrophy, osteoplasty is used to successfully insert implants. Bone repair is performed using a graft of synthetic or biological origin.

Tooth replantation

This unique dental surgery is also performed at our clinic. Most often, single-root teeth are placed back into the socket because these are the teeth most affected by injuries.

Periodontal aesthetics.

This procedure is indicated for patients with periodontitis. The treatment helps stop further damage to the bone tissue and joints surrounding the tooth.
